Giuliano de' Medici

This bronze figurine of Giuliano de' Medici was created by an unknown artist after the work of Michelangelo Buonarroti. Giuliano de' Medici co-ruled the Republic of Florence with his brother Lorenzo the Magnificent until his assassination in the church Santa Maria del Fiore, or the Duomo, on April 26, 1478. This plot, called the Pazzi Conspiracy, was designed by the Pazzi and the Salvati families to remove the Medicis from power. They had the support of Pope Sixtus IV.
